How are your visitor numbers compared to same quarter last year? (Kincardine and Mearns Respondents)
The Tourism Industry Barometer is a nationwide survey conducted on a quarterly basis. The survey is a partnership between VisitScotland, local councils and destination organisations. The results are used at a regional level to provide feedback to businesses on how tourism in our area is performing.
We achieved a response rate of 91 across the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire region. 31 of these respondents were from businesses within Kincardine and Mearns which gave us access to a sub-regional report specifically for this area.
Almost three-quarters (72%) of you stated that visitor numbers were up or similar in comparison to the same period for 2018 (April to June), slightly lower than the region-wide (76%) and Scotland-wide figures (77%).
Interestingly, 45% of respondents stated that overseas visitors were up when compared with the same period the previous year, higher than the region-wide figure of 39% and the Scotland-wide figure of 37%.
Scotland-wide figures:
UP: 39.56%
SIMILAR: 37.46%
DOWN 22.88%
