How are your visitor numbers compared to same quarter last year? (Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire Respondents)
The Tourism Industry Barometer is a nationwide survey conducted on a quarterly basis. The survey is a partnership between VisitScotland, local councils and destination organisations. The results are used at a regional level to provide feedback to businesses on how tourism in our area is performing.
49 respondents from Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire gave feedback on Quarter 1 2019 (January to March inclusive).
Nearly one-third of respondents stated that visitor numbers were up in comparison to the same period for 2018 (January to March). This closely mirrored the figure for Scotland as a whole, see below.
Locally, fewer businesses stated that visitor numbers were similar, almost 10% points less than the national picture. Also, a greater % of local businesses reported a decline in visitor numbers this quarter than the Scotland-wide sample, again a difference of 10% points.
Up: 34.04%
Similar: 33.59%
Down: 26.05%
Business closed this quarter: 6.32%
The Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire sample is relatively small so do treat results with some caution.
