VisitScotland Tourism Barometer Q4 (Oct-Dec) 2018: Main Barriers to Success

    Source: VisitScotland Tourism Barometer

The Tourism Industry Barometer is a nationwide survey conducted on a quarterly basis. The survey is a partnership between VisitScotland, local councils and destination organisations. The results are used at a regional level to provide feedback to businesses on how tourism in our area is performing.

These figures represent Quarter 4 (October - December) 2018 (Sample = 63 respondents).

Q4 respondents stated that the main barrier to success was "Footfall and visitor numbers", perhaps to be expected when reflecting on the October to December period. This was also the main barrier to success highlighted by the Scotland-wide sample. Economic conditions followed, again mirroring the national picture.

Similarly to the last quarter, local businesses did not highlight connectivity as a barrier to success this quarter.

The Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire sample is relatively small so do treat results with some caution.
