How optimistic are you for the next 3 months? (Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire respondents)
The Tourism Industry Barometer is a nationwide survey conducted on a quarterly basis. The survey is a partnership between VisitScotland, local councils and destination organisations. The results are used at a regional level to provide feedback to businesses on how tourism in our area is performing.
63 respondents from Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire gave feedback on Quarter 4 2018 (October to December inclusive).
Just over 40% of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire respondents claimed to be very or quite optimistic about the next 3 months, 10 percentage points below the Scotland-wide picture, see below.
This is a similar outlook to the previous wave, again indicative of the nature of our seasonal product and the winter/early Spring months being a traditionally quieter period for many businesses.
The national response for Optimism levels was as follows:
Very Optimistic: 16.55%
Quite Optimistic: 34.60%
Neutral: 30.57%
Not Very Optimistic: 12.99%
Not At All Optimistic: 5.29%
The Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire sample is relatively small so do treat results with some caution.
