Scotland Visitor Survey: What attracted visitors? 2015 & 2016

    Source: VisitScotland Visitor Survey 2015 & 2016

The 2015 & 2016 Scotland Visitor Survey was carried out by Jump Research for VisitScotland. The nature of this work is to strengthen our understanding of visitor behaviour and visitor experiences.

Scenery and Landscape emerged as the top motivation to visit, mirroring the Scotland-wide figure. 45% of visitors were attracted to the area to visit family and friends - the highest proportion of any area in Scotland. At 36%, History & Culture were popular in terms of attracting visitors to the area, again very similar to the Scotland-wide figure. It is positive to see that a third stated the basis for this trip was that they had visited Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire before and wanted to return.

Due to the small Base Sample (193), please treat these results with caution.
