Average length of stay - Overseas Visitors 2016

Source: VisitScotland Regional Insights

This data is drawn from the International Passenger Survey (IPS), a continuous survey carried out by the Office for National Statistics (ONS). It covers all major air, sea and tunnel ports, providing detailed information on the numbers and types of visits made by people travelling to and from the UK.

At an average of 5.5 nights, Aberdeen and Grampian falls below the Scotland figure of 7.7 nights for overseas visitors average length of stay. There is scope for the region to improve on this figure, and activity through the Destination Strategy should support an increase in this area.

The 2017 International bednights figure for Aberdeen City has shown a marked increase. It will be interesting to see the full picture for the region in terms of Bednights and any impact this will have on the 2017 average length of stay (these will be added as soon as they become available).
