VisitScotland Tourism Barometer Q2 2018: Turnover

    Source: VisitScotland Tourism Barometer

The Tourism Industry Barometer is a nationwide survey conducted on a quarterly basis. The survey is a partnership between VisitScotland, local councils and destination organisations. The results are used at a regional level to provide feedback to businesses on how tourism in our area is performing.

Aberdeenshire participated in the survey for the first time recently, reporting on business performance for Q2, 2018 (Respondents = 100).

The Aberdeenshire figures were slightly below the national average in relation to an increase in Turnover, but closely mirrored the national picture in other categories:

    Up: 38.37%

    Similar: 34.62%

    Down: 24.91%

    Business Closed: 2.10%

We also achieved a sub-regional report for Aberdeen City (Respondents = 30). Clearly the sample is smaller, but above national average growth appeared to have taken place in relation to an increase in turnover:

    Up: 46.67%

    Similar: 40.00%

    Down: 13.33%
