VisitScotland Tourism Barometer Q2 2018: Visitor Numbers

    Source: VisitScotland Tourism Barometer

The Tourism Industry Barometer is a nationwide survey conducted on a quarterly basis. The survey is a partnership between VisitScotland, local councils and destination organisations. The results are used at a regional level to provide feedback to businesses on how tourism in our area is performing.

Aberdeenshire participated in the survey for the first time recently, reporting on business performance for Q2, 2018 (Respondents = 100).

The feedback from businesses in relation to Visitor Numbers was very similar to the national picture, detailed below:

    Up: 37.78%

    Similar: 35.37%

    Down: 25.30%

    Business Closed: 1.55%

We also achieved a sub-regional report for Aberdeen City (Respondents = 30). Above national average growth appeared to have taken place in relation to visitor numbers:

    Up: 43.33%

    Similar: 33.33%

    Down: 23.33%

Clearly the sample is smaller, and results should be treated with caution
